Liberty Legacies - American Cowboy

Throughout American history, few figures have been as central to the mythology and cultural symbolism of the United States as the Cowboy, an American achetype inspired by the original Indigenous Mesoamerican vaqueros and their legendary lasso and horseman skills.

Glamorized in countless books, movies, and television shows, they became in the popular imagination an icon of the American Frontier: of rugged individualism, American universalism, and the virtue of westward expansion.

While opportunities may have shifted away from the mythos of the vigilantes, riders, and cattle herders of the past, the American cowboy is still very much a part of life in the American West today and continues to pay homage to their history of trailblazing exploration and old-fashioned grit both on and off the ranch.

To all of the ranchers, cowboys, and pioneers who paved the way for the American West, we honor your contributions and welcome you as one of America's proud Liberty Legacies.
